Former National Legal Adviser of the Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) and a 2018 senatorial candidate for Anambra South, Chief Barrister Chukwudi Ezeobika, has delivered a blistering critique of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, warning that the administration’s policies of exclusion, economic hardship, and political intolerance will spell electoral doom for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Ezeobika accused Tinubu of perpetuating the divisive governance style of his predecessor, fostering ethnic favoritism, and alienating significant sections of the Nigerian populace. He lamented that instead of uniting the nation, Tinubu’s administration has deepened social and political fractures, leading to growing disillusionment among Nigerians.
“Nigeria is a country built on ethnic and religious diversity, and only a leader who embraces inclusivity can foster national unity. Unfortunately, Tinubu’s APC government has institutionalized political intolerance, bigotry, and ethnic bias as state policies. The deliberate exclusion of various ethnic nationalities in key federal appointments is a clear sign of disregard for national cohesion,” Ezeobika stated.
His remarks align with concerns raised by groups such as Afenifere, which recently criticized the administration for appointing predominantly Yoruba individuals to strategic government positions, warning that such bias could strain Nigeria’s fragile unity.
Ezeobika also called out the government’s failure to resolve unrest in the South-East, particularly regarding the prolonged detention of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. He argued that Tinubu’s unwillingness to engage in constructive dialogue with regional stakeholders has further alienated voters in the South-East and South-South, setting the stage for massive rejection of the APC in 2027.
“A glaring example of Tinubu’s indifference to national cohesion is his refusal to heed calls from respected legal minds and key stakeholders from the South-East to release IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. His reluctance to address the grievances of the region is a direct affront to democratic principles and will translate into overwhelming electoral rejection,” he added.
Beyond political exclusions, Ezeobika slammed the Tinubu administration’s economic policies, blaming them for skyrocketing inflation, rising unemployment, and worsening poverty levels. He warned that Nigeria’s economic deterioration under APC rule is pushing millions into hardship and fueling public outrage.
“Under this government, basic necessities have become unaffordable, businesses are collapsing, and youth unemployment is at an all-time high. The administration’s economic mismanagement has driven Nigeria into its worst inflationary crisis in 28 years, causing untold suffering to the masses,” he lamented.
He further criticized the erosion of democratic norms, noting that the APC’s governance approach has undermined public confidence in democratic institutions.
“The collapse of separation of powers, disregard for constitutional governance, and conflicting judicial rulings have created an atmosphere of uncertainty. The reckless actions of the executive, combined with inconsistent judicial pronouncements, have shattered public trust in the system,” Ezeobika noted.
With mounting dissatisfaction nationwide, Ezeobika believes the APC’s failure to address economic hardship, ethnic favoritism, and governance failures will cost the party dearly in the 2027 general elections.
His scathing assessment echoes a growing national sentiment that change is inevitable if Nigeria is to regain stability and progress.
