In a significant move to deepen Africa-Caribbean relations, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, met with Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley on the sidelines of the Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) Forum. Their discussion centered on unlocking new trade opportunities, strengthening cultural exchanges, and fostering economic cooperation between the two regions.
Director of Information and Public Relations, Mohammed Manga in statement indicated that the high-level meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to leverage their historical connections and shared aspirations for mutual growth.
The statement quoted Edun to have emphasized the importance of enhanced trade policies and investment partnerships that would facilitate smoother movement of goods and people across Africa and the Caribbean.
“Nigeria and Barbados share a deep-rooted cultural and historical bond. Strengthening these ties through economic cooperation and trade expansion will open new frontiers for prosperity on both sides,” Edun stated.
Prime Minister Mottley echoed this sentiment, highlighting the need for structured frameworks that will enable sustainable partnerships in energy, finance, and tourism.
The meeting is expected to pave the way for future bilateral agreements aimed at fostering greater economic integration and cooperation.
