Akogun Elijah Adeogun has called on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to investigate what he described as false blackmail and murder allegations orchestrated by land speculators in Osuke, Ogun State.
Adeogun, a member of Living Faith Church’s Land Committee, said his troubles began after his appointment, as speculators unhappy with the church’s legal claims on the land began linking him to the recent unrest in Osuke, which resulted in the death of one Obasanjo Jinadu Saheed.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, he maintained his innocence, stating that he was in court on the day of the incident and had never been involved in land dealings in Osuke.
“I am not from Osuke; I don’t own land there, and I wasn’t present when the crisis occurred. The police have confirmed my alibi, yet these speculators are using falsehoods to tarnish my name and even push for my arrest,” he said.
Adeogun warned that he would take legal action against those attempting to implicate him and urged the IGP to intervene swiftly to protect his reputation.
