The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed her commitment to supporting vulnerable Nigerians through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), particularly women, youth, and marginalized groups.
Speaking on Monday, at the Government House in Lokoja, Kogi State, while distributing food items to vulnerable households, Senator Tinubu—represented by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima—highlighted RHI’s ongoing efforts in addressing food insecurity and improving the livelihoods of disadvantaged Nigerians.
She noted that the RHI Food Outreach Scheme has already reached vulnerable communities in eight states, including the FCT, Cross River, Edo, Ekiti, Gombe, Kano, Kwara, and Nasarawa, with Delta and Oyo scheduled to benefit next. The initiative, she emphasized, is designed to provide relief to struggling families and ensure food security across the nation.
Beyond food distribution, Senator Tinubu outlined the RHI Social Investment Scheme’s collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Environment to establish climate change clubs in secondary schools and climate societies in tertiary institutions. This initiative aims to raise environmental consciousness and promote sustainable practices among young Nigerians.
Furthermore, she announced that under the RHI Economic Empowerment Plan, a grant of ₦250,000 would be provided to 200 Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) to help recapitalize their businesses, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and economic self-sufficiency.
“These programmes align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes the well-being of all Nigerians, especially the vulnerable,” she said. She encouraged beneficiaries to utilize the food items effectively and expressed optimism that the initiative would make a lasting impact.
Senator Tinubu also commended Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, Wife of the Kogi State Governor and State Coordinator of RHI, for her dedication to ensuring the success of the initiative within the state.
In her remarks, Hajia Sefinat Ododo assured that the food distribution would be fair and transparent, reaching those who need it most. She emphasized that the support would significantly ease hardships for many families and reaffirmed the commitment of Kogi women to the success of President Tinubu’s administration.
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, also appreciated Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her unwavering support through RHI. He reiterated the state’s full support for the Tinubu administration and highlighted his government’s achievements in youth and women empowerment, as well as the provision of food palliatives. He pledged to continue leveraging state resources to improve citizens’ welfare and economic opportunities.
The RHI Food Outreach Programme remains a vital component of the initiative’s broader mission to combat poverty and food insecurity nationwide, bringing renewed hope to communities in need.
