THE Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Miller Gajere Dantawaye, has reiterated the steadfastness of the Nigeria Police Force in its resolve to protect lives and property of all citizens irrespective of their locations.
CP Dantawaye who disclosed this during a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi at his palace in Kabba, assured the monarch of the safety of lives and property of Okun people.
The Commissioner was at the palace to seek the monarch’s blessings and collaboration for effective implementation of effective Community Policing through intelligence gathering to enhance security in Okun Land.
Addressing some traditional rulers in Okunland including the Olujumu of Ijumu, Elulu of Mopa and other Royal Highnesses present at the Obaro’s palace, CP Dantawaye emphasized the importance of Community Policing.
He acknowledged the critical role of the local population in combating crime and maintenance of law and order as he urged traditional leaders, farmers, and residents to provide timely and accurate information to Security Agencies.
Responding, the Obaro requested for enhanced security presence in Kabba and its environs as he underscored the need for adequate security measures to guarantee safety of his subjects as they go about their lawful businesses.
Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi commended the security agencies for their strategic security operations that have so far made significant impact in Okun Land as he solicited sustained efforts for long-term peace.
To accomplish this, the monarch called for the establishment of Police Divisions in some parts of Okun Land to increase security presence in the area.
From the Obaro’s Palace, CP Dantawaye proceeded to Ayere Divisional Police Headquarters where he assessed facilities and encouraged officers and men of the Division to adopt Community Policing approach as they perform their respective duties in the area.
CP Dantawaye commended the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and personnel of the Division for their dedication to duty and reaffirmed his desire and commitment towards enhancing their welfare.
At the Palace of the Alayere of Ayereland, Oba Engr. Olu Olumodeji, the CP centred his discussion on strengthening security measures in the area active cooperation of the traditional institution.
The monarch pledged his full cooperation with the Police Command and promised to enlighten his subjects on the need for collaboration to secure the area.
A statement by the State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), SP William Ovye Aya urges all citizens to collaborate with law enforcement agents by reporting suspicious activities promptly. (Ends)
