CP Azare Strengthens Police-Traditional Rulers Partnership to Tackle Crime in Akwa Ibom

In a bid to reinforce security collaborations and enhance grassroots policing, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the traditional institution in the fight against crime.

During a courtesy visit to the President-General of the Akwa Ibom Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Oku Ibom Ibibio, Ntenyin Dr. Solomon Etuk, CP Azare emphasized the strategic role of traditional rulers in intelligence gathering, community policing, and conflict resolution.

Akwa Ibom State Police Command, DSP Timfon John, in a statement issued on Thursday quoted the Commissioner to have expressed deep appreciation for the long-standing cooperation between the Police and traditional rulers and called for stronger intelligence-sharing mechanisms to tackle criminal activities effectively.

“Security is a collective responsibility. The Police cannot work in isolation. The wisdom, influence, and networks of our royal fathers are invaluable in ensuring peace, stability, and a crime-free society,” CP Azare stated.
He assured that under his leadership, the Akwa Ibom Police Command will maintain an open-door policy, welcoming community-driven intelligence, suggestions, and support to strengthen law enforcement efforts.
In his response, His Eminence, Oku Ibom Ibibio, commended CP Azare’s proactive leadership since assuming office.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the traditional rulers’ council to partnering with law enforcement, noting that sustaining peace and security remains a collective goal.

“We acknowledge your dedication to keeping Akwa Ibom the safest state in the country. The traditional institution will continue to support and collaborate with the Police to ensure our communities remain secure,” he assured.
The visit marks another strategic move by CP Azare to deepen stakeholder engagement and integrate community-based security models in crime prevention.

With this renewed partnership, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command is set to enhance proactive policing strategies, strengthen community trust, and sustain its mission of maintaining law and order across the state.
