Kogi’s New Police Commissioner Vows Tough Stance on Criminals

The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Kogi State, CP Miller Gajere Dantawaye, has assumed duty with a stern warning to criminal elements to leave the state or face severe consequences.
Speaking during his inaugural address to departmental heads in Lokoja on Thursday, CP Dantawaye declared zero tolerance for crime and vowed to make Kogi an inhospitable environment for criminals.
“This state is no longer a safe haven for criminal elements,” he stated. “Peace is what we need in this state, and those terrorizing it must leave immediately. The Inspector-General of Police has entrusted me with this role, and I am here to deliver.”
The new CP pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor, CP Bethrand Onuoha, leveraging his experience and the support of officers in the command to restore peace and dislodge criminals.
On tackling herders-farmers clashes and other security challenges, Dantawaye urged public collaboration by providing credible intelligence. “Many people know the locations of criminal hideouts but are afraid to share this information. We need your support to effectively combat crime,” he emphasized.
He also announced plans to train officers in tactical response and intelligence gathering, following the directives of the Inspector-General of Police. “Our approach will be proactive and comprehensive,” Dantawaye said, urging his officers to prioritize the safety of lives and property across the state.
The Commissioner reiterated his commitment to rewarding dedication within the force, stating, “If a constable can demonstrate commitment and provide valuable advice, I will work with that person.”
CP Dantawaye’s appointment marks the beginning of a renewed drive to maintain peace and security in Kogi State.
