CHRAN Pledges Partnership with Akwa Ibom Police to Enforce Vehicle Insurance Law

The Center for Human Rights and Accountability Network (CHRAN) has pledged its support to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in ensuring the effective enforcement of the Third-Party Vehicle Insurance Policy, set to begin on 1st February 2025.

During a visit to the Command Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, Otuekong Franklyn Isong, Director of CHRAN, praised the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, for his outstanding contributions to maintaining peace, security, and law and order in the state.

Isong commended the Commissioner for his professionalism and proactive measures that have instilled public confidence in the policing structure.
He emphasized CHRAN’s commitment to human rights and accountability, particularly in sensitizing the public about the new vehicle insurance law.
Isong said that CHRAN would utilize its platforms to inform citizens about the importance of obtaining valid third-party insurance and ensuring compliance with the law.

In response, CP Azare thanked CHRAN for its support and assured them of the police command’s dedication to enforcing the law with transparency and fairness.
He emphasized that the enforcement would respect citizens’ rights while ensuring that violators are held accountable.

The partnership between the Akwa Ibom Police and CHRAN marks a significant step toward ensuring the smooth implementation of the vehicle insurance policy, which is aimed at protecting lives and properties across the state.
