In a bold move to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Deputy Governor Hon. Dennis Idahosa has called for unity among party members to support the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo in delivering development across the state.

Speaking at a New Year gathering of APC leaders in Edo South, held at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City, Idahosa emphasized the need to consolidate the party’s victory in the September 21, 2024 governorship election through collective effort and unity of purpose.

While conveying Governor Okpebholo’s appreciation to party members, Idahosa said:

“This meeting is about fostering unity. God gave us victory in 2024, but sustaining it requires harmony and collaboration. Let’s bury grievances and focus on building a stronger, united party to move Edo forward.”
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Fred Itua in a statement quoted Idahosa to have highlighted the administration’s resolve to fulfill its campaign promises, calling on aggrieved members to set aside differences for the greater good of the state.

Adding his voice, former APC governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, issued a stern warning against disunity within the party, stating that divisive elements would no longer be accommodated.

“We secured victory because we were united. Now is the time to sustain that unity and deliver results for Edo people. There’s no room for backbiting and factionalism. We are shutting the doors against those who seek to divide us.”

Ize-Iyamu urged members to focus on governance and avoid distractions, adding that the APC’s victory was a call to service and not a license for infighting.

Former Deputy Governor Lucky Imasuen also charged members to prioritize unity, describing it as the foundation for delivering the dividends of democracy.

“This is not the time for confusion or personal interests. Let’s stand behind Governor Okpebholo and work for the progress of Edo State,” Imasuen said.

The leaders’ call for unity signals a shift in the APC’s approach to governance, focusing on collective efforts to tackle developmental challenges and position Edo State for growth.

With renewed commitment from party leaders, the APC in Edo State appears determined to silence internal divisions and focus on strengthening governance structures to deliver on its promises to the people.
