The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Chief Peter Obi, has paid a condolence visit to Governor Malam Umar Namadi of Jigawa State at the Government House in Dutse following the tragic loss of his mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi, and son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi.
During the visit, Chief Obi expressed deep sympathy, describing the incident as heartbreaking and a great loss not only to the governor’s family but also to the people of Jigawa State.
“We are here to commiserate with you, your family, and the people of Jigawa State over this tragic loss. Losing a loved one is never easy, and to lose both a mother and a son in such a short time is truly devastating,” Obi said. “We pray that God Almighty forgives their shortcomings and grants them eternal rest.”
Obi further emphasized the need for strength during such difficult times, urging the governor and his family to remain steadfast in faith and draw comfort from God’s mercy.
Responding, Governor Namadi expressed gratitude to Obi for taking time out of his busy schedule to personally visit and condole with him and the people of the state.
“Your visit demonstrates true friendship and compassion. This is not the first time you have come to Jigawa to sympathize with us during moments of grief. On behalf of my family and the entire state, we sincerely appreciate your concern and prayers,” Namadi said.
He added that Obi’s visit is a testament to the importance of empathy and unity in times of sorrow, emphasizing the need for leaders to work together regardless of political affiliations.
The condolence visit concluded with prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased and strength for the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
