Gov. Okpebholo Prioritizes Rapid Reforms as Oshiomhole Applauds Leadership Style
In less than a month since assuming office, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has been commended for his decisive actions and reforms aimed at repositioning the state for growth and stability.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua quoted the former Governor and Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, to have described Okpebholo’s leadership as a refreshing departure from past administrations, hailing his hands-on approach to governance.
Addressing journalists at his Iyamho residence in Etsako West Local Government Area, Oshiomhole praised Okpebholo’s quick start, highlighting his focus on governance that prioritizes action over rhetoric.
“For the first time in our state’s history, we have a Governor who wasted no time in addressing pressing issues. From day one, Governor Okpebholo began assembling his team and ensuring key areas like justice, education, and health received immediate attention,” Oshiomhole said.
Oshiomhole contrasted Okpebholo’s proactive governance with the previous administration’s reliance on lengthy processes and unfulfilled promises.
He noted that Edo people are already witnessing infrastructural improvements and governance reforms.
“Edo has moved from endless meetings and MOUs to visible projects. The Governor’s mobilization of contractors to sites shows his commitment to providing tangible results,” Oshiomhole stated.
The former Governor also commended Okpebholo for halting the diversion of funds from local governments, which he claimed characterized the previous administration.
“Governor Okpebholo has put an end to the misuse of local government funds. His focus is on ensuring these resources are used for grassroots development, which is what the people need most,” he said.
Oshiomhole further applauded Okpebholo’s emphasis on teamwork and inclusive decision-making, describing it as a model for participatory governance.
“He values collective wisdom and listens to his team, yet he remains bold in taking action. This is the kind of leadership that inspires confidence,” Oshiomhole added.
Governor Okpebholo, in his remarks, assured Edo residents that his administration will scale up reforms and development initiatives in 2025. With a new budget in place and credible appointments made, he promised to prioritize economic growth, infrastructural expansion, and improved welfare.
“We are determined to deliver impactful results. Edo people deserve better, and we are committed to making their lives better through strategic development,” the Governor said.
Okpebholo has inaugurated his cabinet, appointed board members, and flagged off major road construction projects—steps that reflect his commitment to immediate results.
Observers see these moves as signaling a clear break from the bureaucratic delays of the past and laying the groundwork for a more accountable and responsive government.
As Edo State looks forward to 2025, stakeholders and residents remain optimistic about Governor Okpebholo’s ability to sustain the momentum and deliver on his promises.
