Jigawa State was thrown into mourning following a double tragedy that struck Governor Namadi, who lost his biological mother and first son within 24 hours.
Governor Namadi, who was away in China, returned to the devastating news of his mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi’s death. However, the sorrow deepened when his 24-year-old son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi, died in a fatal car crash just hours after his return.
Reports indicated that Abdulwahab was travelling from Kafin Hausa to Dutse with friends when the tragic accident occurred along the Dutse-Kafin Hausa road.
Sources revealed that Abdulwahab lost control of the vehicle, causing it to somersault.
While Abdulwahab died on the spot, his friends sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Dutse General Hospital.
The late Abdulwahab was laid to rest in Kafin Hausa according to Islamic rites, just a day after his grandmother’s burial.
The series of tragedies has left the Namadi family and the entire state in deep grief, with sympathizers flooding the governor’s residence to pay condolences.
Senator Lawan arrived at the family residence in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area at 10:01 a.m., where prayers were offered for the repose of the deceased.
His Media Adviser Dr. Ezrel Tabiowo, in a statement, quoted Lawan while addressing mourners to have described the incident as a heart-wrenching loss and offered prayers for strength and comfort for the Governor’s family.
“This is a devastating moment for Governor Umar Namadi and his family. Losing both a mother and a son in such a short time is a heavy burden to bear.
“Hajiya Maryam was a remarkable woman of faith who inspired many, and Abdulwahab, at just 24, had a promising future ahead of him before his tragic death in a car accident on Thursday, December 26, 2024.
“I pray Allah (SWT) grants the Governor and his family the strength to endure this painful period and may the departed rest peacefully in Aljannatul Firdaus. Ameen.”
Senator Lawan urged the Governor to take solace in the outpouring of love and prayers from well-wishers across the country.
