    Kano State Sets N20b Revenue Target, Intensifies Efforts Against Tax Evasion

    Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has outlined a bold plan to generate over N20 billion in revenue for the 2025 fiscal year as part of his administration’s tax reform strategy. This ambitious goal includes a strong focus on prosecuting tax defaulters and improving overall compliance with tax laws.

    Dr. Zaid Abubakar, Executive Chairman of the Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS), emphasized that the reforms are not about raising taxes but about enhancing the efficiency of revenue collection He also highlighted that the restructuring of KIRS, including the appointment of a new management team, has already yielded positive results.
    The Governor is expected to introduce a new model for tax collection, aimed at significantly boosting the state’s revenue and supporting key developmental initiatives.
