NNPP Accuses Kwankwaso of Sabotage, Urges Security Action

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has accused ex-party leader Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya faction of blackmail and attempts to destabilize the party.
National Chairman Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major reaffirmed Kwankwaso’s expulsion and urged security agencies to intervene, citing concerns over potential public unrest.

The party condemned the group’s alleged interference in the National Assembly and called for strict adherence to court rulings affirming the NNPP’s recognized leadership.

“Their recent attempt to interfere with the NNPP caucus in the National Assembly demonstrates desperation. Despite their exit from our party, they remain focused on destabilizing our operations,” Dr. Major said.

Dr. Major alleged that the Kwankwasiyya group wrote to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, demanding the replacement of the Deputy Minority Leader, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Sani Madaki, with someone not affiliated with the party. He described this as a deliberate effort to disrupt the party’s internal affairs.

He further accused the group of perpetuating “recklessness and illegalities” and urged security agencies, particularly in Kano State, to investigate and prevent any destabilizing actions.

The NNPP referenced a recent ruling by an Abia High Court, which reinstated the party’s Board of Trustees (BOT), led by its founder Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, as the rightful management body. Dr. Major stressed that only communications from the recognized leadership should be considered valid.

“We call on the Speaker of the House of Representatives to act solely on letters signed by Dr. Boniface Aniebonam or the official party leadership,” he said.

The party criticized attempts by the Kwankwasiyya group to summon Rt. Hon. Aliyu Sani Madaki and Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum for disciplinary actions, labeling such moves as illegitimate and void.

“These individuals have renounced their association with the Kwankwasiyya group. The group has no authority within the NNPP to take any disciplinary action,” Dr. Major declared.
Dr. Major reiterated the NNPP’s commitment to maintaining internal order and protecting democratic values. He warned against any actions that could destabilize the party or threaten its members.
“We will not stand by and allow any enemies of democracy to undermine our efforts. The NNPP remains committed to the rule of law and the advancement of Nigeria’s democracy,” he concluded.
Comrade Sunday Olaposi Oginni, the party’s National Secretary, supported Dr. Major’s stance, adding that Kwankwaso’s influence had been more harmful than beneficial to the NNPP.
The NNPP called on all stakeholders to respect court rulings and recognize the party’s legitimate leadership, pledging to continue its efforts in promoting democracy and national development.
