Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has acknowledged an internal crisis within the state branch of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking to journalists upon his return from a three-week overseas trip, Namadi confirmed he had heard troubling news about disagreements within the party during his absence.

Governor Namadi emphasized that Jigawa people are not typically associated with this type of conflict and appealed for patience and restraint among party members. “In any community, misunderstandings are inevitable, but these should be resolved internally, without airing grievances publicly,” he said. He further noted that, despite current tensions, the APC remains a unified party in Jigawa and urged party members to maintain solidarity.

“As leaders, whenever we receive information or complaints, we should thoroughly investigate before taking any actions,” Namadi advised, underscoring the importance of careful leadership and mutual respect among party members. He also called on party members to stay committed to peaceful coexistence for the progress of the state.

Governor Namadi’s remarks come amid reports of rising tensions between his supporters and those of former Jigawa State Governor and current Minister of Defense, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar. During Namadi’s absence, the Minister visited Hadejia, the governor’s home senatorial district, where a large crowd gathered to welcome him. The event reportedly sparked criticism of Governor Namadi, with some in the crowd suggesting he may only serve a single term.

Following the incident, some unidentified APC members reportedly issued a press statement urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to dismiss Minister Badaru, accusing him of anti-party activities and collaboration with opposition members to undermine APC’s prospects in 2027.

The Governor called for unity within the party, emphasizing loyalty to leaders and the importance of protecting the dignity and image of the APC in Jigawa State.
