The Director-General of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) campaign council for the Ondo State governorship election, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of engaging in vote-buying by offering N10,000 per voter.
This allegation came after he cast his vote at polling unit 005, Olumekun compound, Ward 12 in Idepe, Okitipupa Local Government Area.

Olafeso noted that, while voting in his area had been peaceful, the APC’s alleged vote-buying posed a significant concern. “We arrived around 8 a.m., and the process has been in line with the electoral law. However, APC is attempting to influence the process by paying voters N10,000 each. We have reported this issue, but it seems challenging to curb,” he stated.

He emphasized the PDP’s commitment to ensuring the integrity of the election, particularly by verifying results uploaded to INEC’s IREV portal. “Voting is only the first stage. We are committed to safeguarding the process despite any financial influence,” Olafeso added.

Meanwhile, Jimi Odimayo, a member of the House of Representatives for Irele/Okitipupa federal constituency, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its organization of the election.
Voting at his Legumare unit 001 in Anglican Primary School Ward 3, Irele, he praised the peaceful atmosphere and the efficiency of the BVAS machines.

“INEC has significantly improved the voting process. Accreditation was seamless, taking just about two minutes,” Odimayo remarked, adding that he was pleased with the impressive turnout. He expressed confidence in an APC victory, stating, “We have worked hard, and I am optimistic about a massive win for APC. This election serves as a preview of what we can expect in 2027.”

The Ondo governorship election has drawn attention as both parties seek to strengthen their influence in the state, with APC supporters hopeful of victory and PDP leaders raising concerns about electoral conduct.
