KOGI State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has declared final results of Saturday Local Government Councils election with the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), overwhelmingly clinching all the 21 Chairmanship and 239 councillorship seats.

Mr Mamman Nda Eri, Chairman of the Commission who announced the results Saturday night in Lokoja, said the election was peaceful, free, fair and credible.

Our correspondent reports that a woman, Rosemary Ohiezuchah, won Ogori-Magongo Local Government Chairmanship seat with Mr Williams Alao as her Vice Chairman while the rest 20 Councils seats were won by men with women as their vice.

According to the Commission’s Chairman, APC performed excellently and cleared all the chairmanship and councillorship positions, leaving nothing for the other 18 political parties that fielded candidates in the election.

Eri declared that the results declared at the KOSIEC headquarters were those earlier declared at the various collations centres by the respective Returning Officers.

“As Chairman of KOSIEC, I hereby confirm the results earlier collated and returned by the Returning Officers,” he said.

Eri had earlier described the exercise across the 21 Local Government Areas in the state as “very peaceful.”

He said that the successful outcome of the exercise culminated from the full commitment and determination of the Commission to ensure a smooth, credible and acceptable election.

The Commission chairman commended officials of the electoral body, security operatives, observers and newsmen for their support and cooperation that made the exercise a successful one. (Ends)
