Ifeku Island in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State is currently grappling with severe flooding following a heavy downpour that lasted for hours on Saturday.
Reports indicated that several lives have been lost as the floodwaters overwhelmed the community.
The Chairman of Etsako Central LGA, Hon. Solomon Obomighie, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the residents of Ifeku amid this devastating disaster.
He urgently called on relevant authorities to take immediate and proactive measures to prevent further loss of life and property.

The flooding poses a significant threat to the lives and livelihoods of the residents, prompting calls for swift government intervention.
Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Igbanor Anthony, highlighted the community’s dire need for assistance to mitigate the impact of the flooding and ensure the safety of its inhabitants.

Councillor representing the affected area, Hon. Ojadi S. Ojadi, emphasized the critical situation and the need for prompt government action to prevent additional harm to Ifeku’s residents.

The local government authorities, under Hon. Obomighie’s leadership, are committed to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to provide immediate support to the community. “It is imperative to safeguard lives and properties in the face of this natural disaster,” he stated.
