Amid the mourning for over 170 victims of a recent petrol tank explosion in Jigawa State, rumors have emerged about the alleged arrest of Auwalu Dalladi Sankara, the Commissioner for Special Duties. Reports suggested that the Kano Hisbah (Sharia police) detained him on charges of having an illegal affair with a married woman.
Social media was rife with video and audio clips claiming to show Sankara in custody, prompting widespread speculation.
In response, the commissioner issued a press statement titled “Notice: Rebuttal of False Allegations Against Auwal D. Sankara,” firmly denying the accusations.
Sankara described the allegations as “false, baseless, and malicious,” aimed at damaging his reputation. He called on the public to ignore the fabricated claims, which he attributed to certain political actors with ulterior motives.
In his statement, he reaffirmed his respect for marriage, stating, “I would never engage in actions that violate its sanctity.” He further indicated his intention to pursue legal action against those spreading these rumors, emphasizing his commitment to maintaining his integrity and values.
