The Presidency has firmly dismissed recent online reports suggesting that security agents have been deployed to obstruct senators from carrying out their legislative duties, particularly regarding an alleged impeachment of the Senate President.
In a statement released today, by Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on senate matters Senator Basheer Lado, described the claims “baseless” and urged the public to disregard them.

He emphasized that there is no discord among the senators, stating, further that the legislative body remains united in its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s democracy.
He reiterated the President’s dedication to fostering a harmonious working relationship among lawmakers.

Lado highlighted that the Senate continues to operate freely, asserting that any security presence within the National Assembly is routine, aimed at ensuring the safety of legislators and staff.

This statement comes amid concerns about the functioning of the National Assembly, as speculation around potential political unrest has circulated. The Presidency reassured that collaboration among senators remains grounded in mutual respect and shared goals for Nigeria’s peace and progress.
He urged the public to ignore unfounded rumors that could undermine the integrity of the legislative process.
The National Assembly’s commitment to democracy and governance, he asserted, remains steadfast.
