As Kogi State joins the global observance of the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, the First Lady, has urged stakeholders across Nigeria to come together to empower girls in their pursuits.

In her message for the day, Mrs. Ododo emphasized the crucial need to support the girl child in reaching her full potential, which is vital for overcoming the challenges they face and nurturing hope for a brighter future.

She praised the resilience and determination of girls striving to uplift their families and communities. Since the beginning of the Ododo administration, initiatives such as the Empowerment of Girls in ICT and vocational training have been launched, equipping young women with valuable skills in technology and promoting their engagement in agriculture for economic growth.

Mrs. Ododo also acknowledged the positive impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) led by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, which has empowered numerous young girls and women across the country, fostering optimism for a better future.

The First Lady reassured her commitment to addressing the barriers faced by the girl child in Kogi State and reiterated her support for their progress. This year’s theme for the International Day of the Girl Child is “Girls’ Vision For The Future.”
