CHAIRMAN of Kogi State Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), Mr Mamman Nda Eri has said that the Commission is all set and ready to conduct the Local Government Councils’ Election slated for October 19.

Eri gave the assurance in his office on Thursday in Lokoja while receiving the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kogi State Council, Alhaji Seidu Haruna Ademu and his Executive Council members.

Speaking on the level of preparedness of the Commission for the council polls, Eri said, “All arrangements have been put in place for the election. However, we hope to address few challenges before the election.

“Right now our Commissioners are on ground working day and night to ensure that all electoral materials and accreditation of observers are fully done before the election day.

“So, be rest assured that by God grace, the elections will be held as scheduled; on the 19th of October, 2024”.

“We are concerned about the Media and observers, we will look into your request for coverage and ensure press tags are issued out through the office of the chairman of NUJ, Kogi state council”, he said.

Earlier, the chairman of NUJ, Kogi state Council, Comrade Seidu Haruna Ademu commended KOSIEC Chairman, Mr Mamman Nda Eri for its commitment to transparency in the electoral process.

Ademu also applauded the SIEC Chairman for his accessibility and constant engagements with stakeholders, stressing that the synergy between KOSIEC and the Media is very crucial as the election approaches.

He reminded the commission to make available press tags for the coverage of the coming local government election.

He said that the tags would grant journalists free movement and access to the 3,508 polling units, 239 wards across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state. (Ends)
