The Association of Niger Delta Women for Agricultural Development, led by its President and Founder, Hon. Mrs. Princess Efe Ekpokpe, has reiterated its commitment to promoting agriculture in the Niger Delta region through massive empowerment initiatives.
This she said it will do by focusing on modern agricultural technology and women’s participation.

The Association’s head of media affairs, Miss Sera Ogodo, in a statement made available to the NationalUpdate, quoted Princess Efe Ekpokpe to have made the disclosure during a recent stakeholders’ meeting in Warri, Delta State.

She emphasized the need for women in the region to leverage available opportunities, strength, creativity, and resilience to drive meaningful change in agriculture.

“Our association is committed to supporting and amplifying the voices of women in agriculture, and we are thrilled to have them as part of this journey,” Princess Efe Ekpokpe said. According to her, the Association has concluded plans to transform the agricultural landscape of the Niger Delta by empowering women with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in the sector.

The statement highlighted the Association’s plan to engage with agricultural experts, showcase significant achievements, and introduce new initiatives designed to enhance the economic and social well-being of women in agriculture.

Founded in 2011 and officially registered in 2012, the Association now operates across the nine Niger Delta states: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers.
Its newly elected executives were inaugurated on July 20, 2024, at the PTI Conference Center in Delta State.

A key highlight of the meeting was the unveiling of the Association’s Vice President, Hon. Mary Ogodo from Delta State.
Additionally, Mrs. Becky Akpovona, the Uvwie local government coordinator, was honored with an award as “The Most Beautiful Woman” of the Association, recognizing her outstanding performance and dedication since the group’s inception.

The Association has continued to drive initiatives that amplify women’s role in agriculture, ultimately aiming to reshape the region’s economy and promote sustainable development
