Obi urges Unity, Compassion in Eid-El Maulud Message
The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election in Nigeria has sent a message of felicitations to the Islamic community in Nigeria and around the world as they celebrate Eid-El Maulud.
He reiterated the importance of unity and compassion in the light of the ongoing challenges faced by the nation.
In his message, Obi acknowledged that the 2024 celebration is happening during a period of severe hardship for many citizens.
“Across Nigeria, millions are experiencing economic difficulties, a lack of basic healthcare, and the disturbing reality of more children being thrown out of school.
He said the pressing issues should remind everyone of the need to work collectively to uplift the population and improve the living conditions of all Nigerians.
Drawing from the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, Obi stressed the values of love, compassion, and kindness.
He highlighted that the teachings provide hope and guidance, calling on people to be their “brother’s keeper” and to show empathy to those in need.
Obi further emphasized that by working together in the spirit of unity, society can address the inequalities that persist, ensuring that no child is left without education and no family suffers without access to healthcare.
In a call for reflection, Obi urged the public to renew their commitment to building a Nigeria where every individual, irrespective of background or belief, has the opportunity to thrive.
Obi’s message which was both a call to action and a source of hope, envision a nation that can overcome current adversities through collective effort.
“Eid al-Maulud Mubarak! Wishing Muslim families peace, joy, and prosperity,” Obi concluded, expressing his hope that the prayers offered during this occasion will bring lasting peace and security to the nation.
The message reads,
“This year’s celebration comes at a time when many of our fellow citizens are enduring severe hardships. Across the country, millions are grappling with the pain of economic challenges, lack of access to basic healthcare, and the distressing reality of countless children being out of school.
“These challenges weigh heavily on our collective conscience, reminding us of the work that remains to be done to uplift our people.
“The teachings of the Prophet—centered on love, compassion, and kindness—offer us the hope and guidance we need in these difficult times.
“His message calls us to be our brother’s keeper, to show empathy to those in need, and to work together in the spirit of unity.
“It is through this lens that we must address the inequalities that persist in our society, ensuring that no child is left without an education and no family suffers without access to healthcare.
