Ododo extends olive branch to opposition, calls for unity in Kogi

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has extended an olive branch to his political opponents and called for unity among all stakeholders to enable the state move forward for the overall good of the people.
In a heartfelt victory speech, Governor Ododo who entered the state in a carnival like procession after the Supreme Court Verdict revalidation of his November 11, 2023 Governorship Election victory, urged all stakeholders to join him in moving the state forward.
He said that the state was blessed with abundant mineral deposits in commercial quantity but regretted that have not been utilized to benefit the people.
“This time around, we want everybody to join hands with us to move our state to greatness. We have no other state that we can call ours.
“The only state we have is Kogi State. And as such, I call on everyone, my brothers and sisters, at the other side to come and join us to move Kogi State”, he said.
Making reference to the Governorship Election and the litigations that followed, the governor said, “There are no hard feelings.
“What has happened is just a contestation to hold power on behalf of our people for their welfare. It is only God that gives power. God has given all of us today. I seek your indulgence to support us.
“We need your prayers. We need your guidance. We need your support so that we can serve you better. We need everybody to move our state forward.
He pledged to work tirelessly to ensure that the state’s resources are harnessed for the betterment of all citizens and sought the support, guidance, and prayers of all citizens, emphasizing that he cannot succeed alone.
Governor Ododo also praised the state’s stakeholders, including those who laid the foundation of the state and those who have served in various capacities.
He invited them to join hands with his administration to move the state forward, recognizing the value of their experience and wisdom.
Governor expressed appreciation to God for his electoral success and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and believe in him.
The APC state chairman, Abdullahi Bello and representatives of the three Senatorial Districts of the state also gave their goodwill messages with pledges to support Governor Ododo’s administration.
