    President Tinubu appoints new directors-general of NIA, DSS

    President Bola Tinubu has appointed new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS)

    Special Adviser to the President, (Media & Publicity) Chief Ajuri Ngelale has indicated in a statement said the appointments are in a strategic move aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s intelligence community,
    The statement indicated that
    Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed is the new Director-General of the NIA, while Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi takes over as the Director-General of the DSS.

    The statement explained that Ambassador Mohammed, who joined the NIA in 1995, has had a distinguished career in the foreign service, culminating in his promotion to Director and subsequent appointment as the head of Nigeria’s mission to Libya.
    A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, Ambassador Mohammed has also served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja.
    The statement also said that the newly appointed DSS Director-General, Mr. Adeola Ajayi,
    has risen through the ranks within the service to his previous position as Assistant Director-General.
    “Over the years, he has served as State Director in several states, including Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.

    The appointments came following the resignation of the previous heads of the NIA and DSS.
    According to the statement, President Tinubu has expressed his expectation that the new security chiefs will work diligently to reposition the two intelligence agencies for improved performance.
    He has urged them to leverage their extensive experience to address Nigeria’s security challenges through enhanced collaboration with other agencies and alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

    The President also extended his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their dedicated service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.
