Kogi State House of Assembly has described the Friday Supreme Court Verdict reaffirming Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’ mandate as “Victor for all” and congratulated and the All Progressives Congress (APC)

In a statement signed by Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Publicity and Strategy, Prince Bode Ogunmola, the Assembly described the victory as a win-win for the people of Kogi state irrespective of political leanings.

The House further noted that given the outcome of the case, it was obvious that “it is a case of no victor, no vanquisher.”

The Assembly appealed to all political actors irrespective of their political beliefs, to close ranks, put the electoral litigations and all other contending issues behind and be ready to contribute their quota to the development of the state.

It noted, “With the ruling of the Apex Court, it is obvious that everything about the November 11, 2023 Governorship Election has been dusted. What remains is real governance.

“We expect and encourage everyone to team up with the Governor to drive the vision of the founding fathers of the state for a viable, peaceful, united and prosperous Kogi State.

“The healing process should start now. The Governorship position is one and only one person can occupy it at a given time.

“This is why we are appealing that we all join hands with the Governor to ensure that our state experiences development in all spheres”, the House further enjoined.

While praying God to grant the Governor good health, wisdom and the wherewithal to fulfil his electoral promises, the 8th Assembly pledged to continue to work and support the Executive Governor to deliver on his mandate.

It would be recalled that the state Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja had earlier declared the governor winner of the November 11, 2023 but the verdict was challenged at the Appeal Court which also upheld the verdict of the Tribunal.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate in the election, Muritala Ajaka, proceeded to the Supreme Court which upheld the decisions of the two lower courts and laid the matter finally to rest. (Ends)
