***Take advantage of Tinubu’s commitment to integrating their perspectives in policy-making
The Minister of State for Youth, Ayodele Olawande, has called on Nigerian youth to priotize on innovation and collaboration as vital tools for accelerating the country’s Socioeconomic development.
Speaking at the third edition of the African Youth Conference held in Abuja on Saturday, he also charged them to take advantage of the commitment of President Tinubu to integrating the youth’s perspectives in policy-making
Represented by Dotun Omoleye, Olawande the minister encouraged young Nigerians to recognize their significance in Nigeria’s progress, urging them to see themselves as key stakeholders in the nation’s development.
“The youths must look inward and see themselves as major drivers of national development,”
The Minister acknowledged the vital role of creativity in addressing contemporary challenges in Africa, highlighting the importance of young people as active participants in national development.
“The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has implemented initiatives like the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) to empower young entrepreneurs with financial support, allowing them to launch businesses that tackle pressing issues.” Further, the Minister noted the unprecedented representation of youth in government positions, including senior cabinet roles, exemplifying that young people are already leaders today, not just the future leaders.
This involvement he said underscored the administration’s commitment to integrating youth perspectives in policymaking.
He indicated that creativity is crucial for developing sustainable solutions and that young minds are essential in identifying opportunities and driving innovation in the continent.
The Minister highlighted the Tinubu administration’s commitment to empowering youth, not just as policy beneficiaries, but as active participants in the development process. He noted that young Nigerians possess untapped potential capable of contributing significantly to the country’s growth.

He encouraged participants to share ideas and develop initiatives addressing current youth issues, emphasizing collaboration with governments.
The theme, “the creative mind, creating sustainable ideas for long-lasting solutions,” he said reflects the desire for youth to take initiative rather than relying solely on government action.
Nwokorie stressed the importance of youth responsibility and creativity, asserting that governments can only provide the right environment and support.
Other notable speakers, including Bitrus Lawrence Gariki, Mandate Secretary for FCT Area Council Services, and Chinezu Metu, a participant, echoed the call for government support in fostering an enabling environment for youth to thrive. They emphasized the need for young Nigerians to pursue innovative ventures that contribute to the nation’s socioeconomic progress.
The conference, themed “Creating Sustainable Ideas for Long-Lasting Solutions,” provided a platform for discussions on youth engagement and the pivotal role of innovation in national development.
It also facilitated interaction between young leaders and government representatives to discuss challenges and solutions for a better future in Nigeria

Group Commends President Tinubu, Gbajabiamila for Diligent Service
A pro-democracy group, THE CITIZENS, has expressed its appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to tackling Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
The group, during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, commended the federal government, as well as the judiciary, for their support in strengthening democracy.
They specifically highlighted the recent judicial pronouncements affirming the financial autonomy of local governments and the legal status of key anti-corruption agencies such as the EFCC, ICPC, and NFIU.
In their statement, the group condemned the actions of certain individuals, believed to be paid agents, who have been attempting to tarnish the reputation of key figures in the current administration.
They expressed particular support for Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, commending his diligence and loyalty to President Tinubu.
The statement reads in part: “We urge the federal government to consider amending our laws to control the spread of false information, cyber-bullying, and criminal defamation of character through both print and social media channels. These activities could disrupt public peace.”
The group also expressed concern over the campaign of calumny aimed at high-ranking officials like the National Security Adviser (NSA), Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister.
They believe this smear campaign is driven by political interests ahead of the 2027 General Elections, with figures like Jackson Ude identified as key players in this effort.
Femi Gbajabiamila was particularly praised for his longstanding commitment to integrity and due process. The group pointed to his rejection of the National Honours Award as a symbolic act to advocate for prioritizing the welfare of Nigerians, following in the footsteps of other notable figures such as Chinua Achebe and Prof.
Alele-Williams. Additionally, they highlighted Gbajabiamila’s leadership in the 2007 Movement within the House of Representatives, which helped defeat the controversial Third-Term Agenda.
In their assessment, Gbajabiamila’s integrity and impeccable character make him one of Nigeria’s finest legislators. The group expressed its readiness to support the government in ensuring the country’s progress.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of THE CITIZENS, Nnanna Raphael Igbokwe, also voiced strong support for Gbajabiamila, stating that the attacks against him were orchestrated by mercantile agents who opposed his stance on defining consensus candidates in the 2022 Electoral Act.
Igbokwe noted that Gbajabiamila’s firm stance on democratic principles, which insisted that candidates should emerge through primaries rather than subjective decisions, was a clear demonstration of his dedication to democracy.
Other members of the Board of Trustees of THE CITIZENS present at the press conference included Dr. Ibrahim Olaifa, Hon. Lawal Abubakar, Hon. Matthew Omeghara, and Dr. Elijah Auta.
In closing, the group reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the government at all levels, with a focus

Senate Approves President Tinubu’s N1.767 Trillion Loan Request
The Senate has granted approval for a $2.09 billion (N1.767 trillion) loan requested by President Bola Tinubu to address the N9.7 trillion deficit in the N28.7 trillion 2024 budget. The decision was made during Thursday’s plenary, just 48 hours after the request was submitted to the National Assembly.
President Tinubu, in letters to both chambers of the legislature earlier this week, highlighted the importance of the loan for financing key projects and programs critical to national development.
Following the request, the Senate assigned its Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, led by Senator Aliyu Wammako (APC, Sokoto North), to review the proposal. Presenting the committee’s report, Senator Wammako described the loan as vital for implementing the Debt Management Strategy, reducing borrowing costs, extending debt maturity, and bolstering Nigeria’s external reserves.
The committee recommended raising the loan through Eurobonds or similar international financing instruments, subject to market conditions. It also suggested that any excess funds from exchange rate adjustments be directed toward capital projects in 2024 to support infrastructure and economic growth.
The Senate approved the loan unanimously, with no objections raised during deliberations. Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, who presided over the session, commended the Wammako-led committee for its swift and thorough handling of the proposal.
This loan approval is part of the government’s broader strategy to bridge fiscal gaps while focusing on developmental priorities and economic stability.
