The Federal Capital Territory(FCT) Chapter of the Labour Party (LP) on Thursday called out the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, for allegedly issuing threats to the Senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, with electoral humiliation for drawing public attention to his shortcomings.

The FCT chairman of the party, Comrade Diugwu Chukwuemeka who spoke in Abuja, on Thursday said the minister’s outburst was indicative of the fact that he is scarcely aware of the perculiarity of the FCT as mini-Nigeria where every part of the nation is represented.

According to him, the minister failed to understand that every State has their peculiarity, the variables playing out in Rivers State is quite different from what is obtainableq in FCT where 98 percent of residents are literate.

“He should know that majority of the residents are Labour Party and any attack on Senator Ireti Kingibe is an attack on the residents of FCT.

“Barrister Nyesom Wike has failed to realize that he is a tenant in FCT and by the time the President is done with him he willl certianily remove him as a minister. He is not even sure whether he will last till the expiration of Ireti’s first tenure in office.

“I want to put it on record that the roads he claims he has done in FCT were roads initiated by GoodLuck Jonathan which he completed 70 percent out of envy was abandoned by the Buhari regime. Let him create a project and complete it for the world to see.”

The LP Chairman pointed out that Senator Kingibe did nothing wrong by merely calling the Minister’s attention to the real needs of FCT residents as the Senator representing FCT and members of the Senate Committee on FCT.
He further stated that, “It is part of her (Kingibe’s) oversight function constitutionally to be in the know of the Minister’s activities in her constituency, rather than being grateful to the distinguished Senator, Barr. Wike chose to be confrontational to the extent of threatening our Senator who Commands overwhelming respect of the residents of the FCT.”
According to the party chairman, the LP as well as residents of the FCT are solidly behind Senator Kingibe.
