For effective boarder Security, immigration CG urges border communities to volunteer information

The Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Mrs. Kemi Nandap has called on the Nigerian boarder communities to support the service by providing them with useful information for better and effective security in the Nigerian boarders.
The CG made the call while interacting with the boarder communities at Maigari international boarder in Jigawa state during her official visit to the state.
She said that “the service is in dire need of support from all stakeholders to ensure safety of our boarders”
She expressed concern over the recent cases of human trafficking of under age girls, especially the under age victims found and rescued from Ghana. The case is really painful and disheartening to any right thinking parent”.
“In this regard, I’m pleading with members of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) to please assist in monitoring and providing them with any suspicious passenger at motor parks. Because most of the nefarious acts are being carryout through our roads”.
The CG explained that due to the porous nature of Nigerian boarders, “it is necessary for the service to put extra attention and involve well meaning citizens to ensure all boarders are safe and secured”.
According to her “due to this, the federal government is applying technological systems and digitalizing surveillance cameras for linkage to the national headquarters where all are being monitored and supervised 24/7”.
Addressing the officers and men of the immigration services at Maigari international boarder, the Comptroller General told the operatives that “under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is committed to providing the service with latest technological working equipments to ensure effective manning of all the boarders for adequate safey and security
Mrs Nandap bemoaned shortage of manpower as one of the agency’s challenges, “shortage of manpower is one of the challenge we are experiencing. Though it is not particular to immigration only.
She assured the operatives of the service’s welfare packages and motivation for all staff
