Kogi Govt Commends Polytechnic Rector For Eradicating Cultism, Repositioning Institution
***Describes Him as Hero of Present Administration

DR Salisu Ogbo Usman, Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has been commended for crushing cultism and cultist activities and other social vices and his frontal approach in repositioning the institution.
Barr Abdulsalami Ozigi Deedat, the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, gave the commendation on Tuesday in Lokoja when he paid a courtesy visit on the Polytechnic.
Barr Deedat who also described the Rector as “Hero of Present Administration” expressed delight over the rapid development of the institution with proofs of enhanced academic excellence, infrastructural development, security and quality assurance.
In a statement signed by Mrs Uredo Omale, Director,
Directorate of Public Relations and Protocol of the Polytechnic, the Commissioner commended the rapid development under the leadership of Dr Salisu Ogbo Usman.
He attributed the feat to the astuteness, courage and doggedness of the Rector in eradicating cultism and social vices and unrest at the Polytechnic.
Deedat said the effort had not only assisted the institution to improve academically but had also helped the State Government to bend the curve of insecurity.
“Cultists and touts that are not tamed while in higher institutions could grow to become armed robbers and assassins in the larger society”, he stressed, and praised Dr Usman for taming them in the Polytechnic.
The Commissioner also thanked the Rector for allowing himself to be used positively as a vessel to improve the standard of education in the state particularly, in Kogi State Polytechnic which the present administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is proud of.
“I believe you still have more good things in you to offer the Polytechnic and the State and I pray that God Almighty would allow you give more of it,” he concluded.
Earlier, the Rector, Dr Salisu Ogbo Usman expressed delight for the visit and appreciated Barr Deedat for his continued support to the growth and development of the Polytechnic.
He particularly recalled the Commissioner’s donation of 10 laptop computers which he said are of tremendous benefit to teaching and administration in the institution.
Dr Ogbo Usman used the occasion to acquaint the Commissioner of the successes and feats the Polytechnic has achieved under his watch.
According to him, the achievements include improvement in academic excellence, infrastructural development, provision of adequate security and quality assurance, amongst others.
He solicited the Commissioner’s continued support, encouragement and motivation to combat the unceasing land encroachment at the Itakpe Campus of the Polytechnic.
Highlights of the visit include presentation of the Polytechnic’s artefacts among other souvenirs to the Commissioner by the Rector. (Ends)
