The coalition of indigenous people of Nasarawa State has made a strong case for the will of the people as expressed on
March 18 gubernatorial election to prevail.
They called on president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the international community to save the indigenous people of the state from bondage.
The convener, coalition of indigenous peoples of Nasarawa State Honourable Kefas Elisha Tigga, made the call after a peaceful protest organised by the coalition in Lafia the state capital.

Tigga indicated that they want the world to know that they voted Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu of the PDP not because he is humble, intelligent and good looking, they voted Ombugadu because they seek liberation from the bondage of some few powers who have held the state to ransom.

He also explained that the judgment passed by the appeal court, which sets aside the judgment of the lower tribunal on mere technicalities, is disheartening and threatens the very fabric of the democratic system.

According to Tigga,”The right of indigenous people, as expressed through their votes, must be protected and upheld without any compromise.

For far too long, Nasarawa State has been subjected to external control, primarily driven by economic exploitation, neglecting the welfare and security of our citizens and their properties.

“Our people have been under persecution base on either their religious beliefs or their ethnic affiliations. We are here today to shed light on the fact that Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu of the PDP rightfully won the gubernatorial elections held on March 18th, 2023. The wrongful declaration of Audu Sule as the winner by INEC was a clear deviation from the true democratic process.

”We appeal to the Nigerian judiciary, the President Federal Republic of Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the international community, and all stakeholders to join us in our quest for justice and upholding the principles of democratic values.

“Only by protecting the principles of democracy and the rights of the indigenous people irrespective of unnecessary sentiments of political connections and money bags to ensure a better and more prosperous future for Nasarawa State and Nigeria as a whole,” he said.

Tigga, assured that their hope is Still alive added that they are still believe that the supreme court will do justice to their petition and they will consider the substance Of the case just like the tribunal did on merit and not base on technicalities
