The senator representing Jigawa northwest senatorial district, Babangida Husaini has doled out N6,250,000 as cash assistance to 625 women petty traders at N10000 each to improve their respective trades.
Speaking while disbursing the empowerments in Ringim town, Ringim local government area, the senator said the gesture is aimed at improving the economy for the women folks considering their responsibilities as wives and mothers.
The senator who was represented by his aid, Alhaji Bashir Ado explained that “I am is supporting you with the sum of N10,000 to add to the capital for your businesses”
According him “In your capacities as mothers and widows left with orphaned children, the money is not much but is huge if it is utilize properly.
“We deliberately chose to support the women folks only this time around, because of their vulnerability and present economic difficulties”.
“Senator Husaini is disbursing a total sum of N12.5 million every month to 1,250 people which includes, youth, women Persons With Disability (PWD) across the 12 local government areas of his constituency to carter for their respective immediate problems”.
He expressed gratitude for the support and understanding by his constituents as he also appealed to them for patience and prayers for peace and security of the nation.
