The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh has charged Nigeria’s Super Falcons redouble their efforts and defeat Ethiopia in order to reach the penultimate round of qualifiers for next year’s Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France.
A statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations,
Mohammed Manga quoted the minister to have given the charge in a message to the Falconets after their draw in the first leg of the match on Sunday in East Africa.
He charged them further to step up their game to ensure a landslide win in their next match coming up today, October 31, 2023, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja

The Minister expressed optimism that the Falconets will do the nation proud, especially since the match is being played within the shores of the country.

Senator Enoh called on them to take charge, dominate, and conquer the ‘Feisty Lucy’ of Ethiopian.

“Make full use of the home advantage, the cheers, the applause, the support and give us the much needed win,” he said

Senator Enoh charged the girls to make the win a welcome gift to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration, being their first match in the country since the inception of the present administration
He added that he would personally celebrate the victory as a gift to him.

“Even though we are in the race for qualification, I will be excited if the Super Falcons can beat Feisty ‘Lucy’ in today’s match for the generality of Nigerians, as we celebrate this new phase of our sports*, he said.

He therefore called on sports loving Nigerians, not only to pray for their success but also come in their multitude to watch the match, adding that Nigeria is solidly behind them.
