The senator who represented Jigawa Northwest in the 8th and 9th Senate, Danladi Sankara has commiserated with the family of Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf who died on Friday in Kano at the age of 76.
The late Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf hailed from Gwaram in Jigawa State and served as Minister in the government of the late President Shehu Shagari from 1979 to 1983 before serving as Senator for Jigawa Southwest Senatorial District from 1999 to 2007.
In a condolence message issued in Abuja on Saturday, Senator Sankara described the death of Bello Yusuf as a great loss to the people of Jigawa State in partcular and the nation in general.
He lamented that his passage came at a time when his wisdom and knowledge are mostly needed by the people.
The statement reads, “I convey my sincere condolences to the immediate family of Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf and the people and government of Jigawa State over his death.
“During his lifetime he contributed immensely to the progress and development of Nigeria as a Minister and Senator.
“I pray to Allah to grant him Aljannat and his family the fortitude to bear this great loss”
