    ‘Give him water’, Akpabio shouts as ministerial nominee collapses during screening

    The ministerial nominee from Kaduna State that replaced Nasir El-Rufai collapsed during screening on Wednesday.

    Balarabe, who was the second nominee to be screened after Dr Jamila Bio Ibrahim had just finished speaking about his experience when the incident happened 15 minutes into his screening exercise at the Senate plenary.

    The nominee slumped suddenly while still on the podium, when Kaduna South Senator, Sunday Marshall Katung, was speaking about Balarabe’s administrative experience in Kaduna.

    After Balarabe had finished reading his profile before the senators, the Kaduna lawmaker, was endorsing his nomination adding that all the three senators from the state have no objection to his nomination.

    Senator Katung was cut short in his remarks when the nominee collapsed, prompting the Senate President Godswill Akpabio to shout, “Give him water, give him water and sugar.”

    Akpabio ordered journalists and cameramen out of the Senate chamber while the live streaming of the screening was also halted.

    The nominee was being revived inside the Senate chamber, and reports had it that he was getting stabilised
