Senator Danladi Sankara who represented Jigawa North West in the 7th and 9th Senate, has described the verdict of Presidential Election Petition Tribunal ( PEPT), upholding the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25, 2023 Presidential election as triumphs of democracy

The Tribunal had on wednesday delivered a unanimous judgement that struck out all grounds of cases filled against Tinubu and the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party ( LP).

Reacting to the judgement in a statement he signed, he said, “It is victory for Democracy”

He noted that even laymen knew that all the issues canvassed by the opposition to question the victory of Tinubu and Shettima were all “Pre-Election” matters which have been thrashed out by the various courts even before the election..

He said, “All the glory should be given to Allah for this well deserved victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima at the election tribunal.

‘This development has as expected, validated their election, and this will further strengthen their resolve and capacity as leaders to provide the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

“I would want to seize this opportunity to implore Nigerians to rally round the president and vice president and offer all the needed support to accelerate the development of the country”.

He therefore counseled the opposition elelements and petitioners to think deeply about Nigeria and discard actions or actitivities that would distract the duly elected leaders from effectively discharging their constitutional duties.

“It is very important at this point in time for everyone, particularly the opposition, to team up with the winners of the election for collaborative efforts for the progress of Nigeria.

“As you can see, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, together with the Vice President Kashim Shettima, have extended warm invitation to everyone to come forward and jointly contribute to the task of nation building”, he added
