By Friday Idachaba, Lokoja
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has inaugurated the reconstruction work on the 13.71 kilometers Itakpe-Kabba Junction-Total road in Okene, Central Senatorial District of the state.
Bello while flagging off the road project on Tuesday, reassured that he would stop at nothing in his determined bid to ensure delivery of quality infrastructures to all parts of the state.
The governor explained that though the road was a Federal one, its economic importance to people of the state as well as commuters and general motorists who travel through the state has been put into perspective.
“From this point (Itakpe) to Kabba Junction to Total spanning 13.7 kilometers, is a Federal road and over the years we have made a lot of requests to the previous administration and it all fell into deaf ears.
“We deem it necessary that even though the road fell in between our land but all Nigerians are using it and each time they pass through it, it gives us a bad image, so we deem it fit to rehabilitate it and give it a befitting and standard quality”, the governor said.
Gov. Bello Assured residents and road users that the road would be completed before the end of the year.
In his welcome address, the state commissioner for Works and Housing, Hon. Samson Bako explained that the road had inflicted so much pains on the people and vehicles that ply it.
He added that the deplorable state of the road had left users with no other option than to desert it and seek alternative routes.
Bako pledged his support for the realization and 5imely execution of the project and all other ongoing projects across the state. (Ends)
