In his bid to raise the bar for increased port safety, the Managing Director / CEO Nigerian Ports Authority, Mohammed Bello Koko has met with the newly appointed assistant Inspector -General of Police Maritime Command AIG Yekini Adio Ayoku.

In the same vein, he also met with the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command Rear Admiral JD Akpan and Fleet Commander West, Rear Admiral AO Olodude.

The meetings which took place at the NPA Headquarters in Marina, Lagos on Tuesday focused on generating fresh ideas to sustain the gains the Lagos Pilotage District has reaped from the nationwide collaborative arrangements between the Authority and the Nigerian Navy.

It will be recalled that in addition to the acquisition and deployment of Security Patrol Boats, the Authority had deployed its partnership with the Navy to improve channel security in the eastern ports which has resulted in increased cargo traffic in Onne, Calabar and Warri Ports.
