    Tinubu mounts the saddle as Nigeria’s 16th President

    Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mounted the saddle after taking the oath of office as the 16th Nigerian President.
    The former Lagos State Governor, was inaugurated as the 16th Nigeria’s President on Monday, May 29 at the Eagle Square in the nation’s capital city, Abuja.
    He was sighted on the podium alongside his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. Former President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha Buhari stood behind Tinubu as he took oath of office at exactly 10:37am.
    Former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima was the first to take the oath as Vice-President at exactly 10:28am.
    The new Nigerian President swore, saying,
    “I, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, do solemnly swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria that I will preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. So, help me, God,”

    Tinubu’s predecessors including Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan witnessed the swearing in ceremony

    Tinubu’s wife, Remi; Shettima’s wife, Nana as well as Buhari’s wife, Aisha also witnessed the oath-taking ceremony.

    African leaders who witnessed the historic event were the new Prime Minister of Gabon, Billy By-Nze, President of the Republic of Cote D’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara; Ghana President, Nana Akufo-Addo; and Rwanda President, Paul Kagame.

    Akinwumi Adesina, Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Abdulsamad Rabiu, and Jim Ovia were also at the venue of the inauguration ground.

    Others present included service chiefs, heads of security agencies, governors, former governors, serving and former ministers as well as chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
