Parents testify to the benefits of choosing British schools for their children

Participants and organisers of the Nigeria for United Kingdom Boarding Schools Week, an Education Summit scheduled to hold in Lagos and Abuja have justified the initiative.

The events enjoy the blessings of the British Deputy High Commission in Lagos, in association with the UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT).


Billed to hold between May 3rd-6th at Transcorp Hilton Abuja and the Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos the event promise is a gathering of top British schools and anxious parents seeking quality educations for their children.

Giving his testimony, Mark Brooks, who leads a group of 17 heads of British Schools coming to Nigeria, said “the UK has become a more popular destination than ever – for families selecting outstanding boarding schools for their daughters and sons.”
“We are also finding that in addition, many parents are now choosing summer school options with an academic emphasis and many educational benefits.”

Sarah Travis, from TASIS England, disclosed that her institution has a wide range of academic and creative courses on offer.
“These include 3D Design to Sports Science, Performing Arts to STEM.
“Young people from around the world forge new friendships at our summer programme and create lasting memories as they participate in a course that builds confidence and creativity.”

According to Julie Fish, Marketing Director of Short Courses at Earlscliffe,
College, the school even offer a mini-MBA summer course which covers entrepreneurship, marketing, management, leadership, and global economics.

“The course is “inspirational, ambitious and relevant” giving students the “perfect introduction to the exciting world of international business.”
Dr Adaku Jennifer Agwunobi,Infinitum Education, in the heart of Oxford, England, offered an insight into what is obtainable at the Young Leaders Programme (YLP) .

“The YLP is an immersive academic summer camp where ambitious youth connect with and learn from the world’s top leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs .”
She revealed that “Students can enjoy a “unique blend of on-campus training where they study entrepreneurship, innovation, or the sciences under renowned academics (Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard) and corporate executives (McKinsey & Company, AstraZeneca.”
Talking about her school, Lisa McGee Summer Schools,
Ms McGee said it offers an experience of university life and lectures especially in STEM subjects through “high quality, safe and fun residentials set in stunning rural facilities in the historic heart of the North East of England.”
“Engineering, Digital and Sustainability workshops are popular including masterclasses at the
region’s best universities with award-winning professors,” she concludes.
Apart from the UK’s Department for Business & Trade (DBT), the event is being put together by award-winning educationalist Mark Brooks Education, a DBT Export Champion who has been advising West African families for 15 years.
