Population Census Official kidnapped in Rivers by gunmen
***demand N500m Ransom
The Federal Commissioner representing Bayelsa State at the National Population Commission, Mrs Gloria Izonfuo has been abducted by unknown gunmen
Reports have it that she was abducted on Sunday evening around the Ogbakiri junction along the East-West Road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The hoodlums struck at about 6:30pm while Izonfuo was on her way to Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, from a trip to Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The NPC federal commissioner’s vehicle was intercepted by the hoodlums who whisked her away with her driver and maid at gunpoint.
The bandits it was gathered have demanded N500 million ransom before they can be released.
The police command in Rivers State has confirmed the incident through its spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko
She said the Commissioner of Police had ordered the command’s tactical teams to swing into action with a view to rescuing the victims.
