INEC bars newsmen from witnessing election materials distribution in Jigawa

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in JIgawa state on Wednesday locked out newsmen from the venue of sorting and distribution of sensitive election materials to the 27 local government areas in the state was being done

National Update checks indicated that the men of the pen profession were not allowed beyond the main entrance of the CBN building till the end of the exercise.

The state Electoral Commissioner, Professor Lawal Bashar who cleared the air over the development indicated that all sensitive materials have been moved to the 27 LGAs.

According to him based on the directive from the CBN, Journalists are not allowed to enter the inspection, distribution and the evacuation venue of the sensitive materials which included the result sheets and other ancillary.

While commenting on the last Presidential and the National Assembly election, he said there was no report of late arrival of electoral materials anywhere in the state, despite the fact that, there were reports by the media on how so many polling units started late.

He said all the Ad-hoc staff of the commission will move to the LGAs headquarters on Friday morning inorder to have some refresher training before moving to their respective areas of assignments.

Also, the National Commissioner in charge of Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina states that Alhaji Abdullahi Abdu Zuru said he was in Dutse to witness the distribution of the electoral materials to the LGAs
