Following the declaration of results of the Kogi central senatorial election, which did not go down well with them, women in the Senatorial District have resorted to invoking the ancestral spirits of vengeance.

Video clips that have gove viral on social media showed women in a white ritual apparel demonstrating as they urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do justice to their votes and declare the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan as Senator-elect.

It was gathered that the white ritual is usually carried out at desperate times to invoke the ancestral spirits of war against those who cheated or cause pain to the land.

Natasha had rejected the declaration of her rival Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as winner of the February 25 election for the Kogi Central Senatorial District following the alleged irregularities that dogged the process.

The PDP candidate had indicated that despite the 12 polling units that were forcefully canceled and declared inconclusive in Ajaokuta LGA and the 20 polling units where election did not hold in Oboroke, Okehi Local Government Area after APC thugs attacks the area, the Returning Officer for Kogi Central Senatorial election, Prof. Rotimi Ajayi, the INEC Returning Officer for Kogi Central Senatorial District, went ahead to announce the results on Tuesday in Okene.

The Returning Officer announced the results with a margin of 369 votes in favour of her opponent despite the number of polling units where elections were cancelled.
