Private FCT varsity Immortalises Aliyu’s Mother, names street after her
A private university based in the Federal Capital Territory, Philomath University, has named a road project within its campus after the late mother of the FCT Minister of State, Hajiya Zainab Sidi Ali, to immortalise her for her contribution to the development of learning and humanity.
Special Adviser on Media to the minister, Austine Elemue quoted the Founder and Pro-Chancellor of Philomath University, Barrister Collins Aimuan, while speaking at the inauguration of the road project to have indicated that the board and management of the university decided to immortalise late Zainab Sidi Ali, for stimulating learning among the less privileged in the society.
According to him; “The woman we are honouring today was a woman of God with impeccable humility, compassionate. A woman who was fond of children, orphans, and the underprivileged in and around her community notably across her state.
“She paid great price to ensure that the revenue she derived from her businesses were channelled and invested in the training of orphans, motherless babies picked from the gutters and the underprivileged in her community and beyond, to give them succour and education, just as she treated her children”.
Aimuan, therefore, used the occasion to call on the Minister, to draw from the life disposition of her mother, and continue with the legacies she left behind.
In her response, the minister who spoke on behalf of the family stated that with the inauguration of the road project the university has achieved another milestone in community partnership and participation.
Aliyu, therefore, advocated for the establishment of functional partnerships for meaningful development especially in the provisions of rural infrastructures with a view to establishing smart objectives in community service.
The minister said; “I am aware that, the need for this road project arose from the Board chairman’s desire to immortalise my mother who was noted in improving the wellbeing of the less privileged in our society.
“With this project, I can boldly and sincerely say that we are about achieving another milestone in community partnership and participation.
“However, we must collectively understand the need to establish functional partnerships for meaningful development especially in the provisions of rural infrastructures with a view to establishing smart objectives in community service.
“I have come to the realization that provisions of rural road is not a cheap project, but requires huge resources in a cost effective module.”
She informed her audience that the FCT Administration has within 3 years progressed towards revitalizing rural roads in satellites towns across the six area councils.
Aliyu, expressed appreciation to the board and management staff of the university for the project, stating that the road would no doubt improve on the built environment.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of National Service award to the FCT Minister of State
