    By Friday Idachaba, Lokoja.

Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana has identified sharing requisite knowledge, skills and gender sensitivity as the fulcrum and heart of sustainability plan of the Pan-African conglomerate.

Director of the plant Mr J. V. Gungune, disclosed this at an occasion to commemorate the Year 2022 Global Sustainability Week at the Dangote Cement Plant, Obajana, Kogi State.

He said that sustainability would only be possible when key knowledge was shared and all genders incorporated in the entire production process.

Gungune described the Dangote Cement Plc as gender sensitive and a place to work for both the present and the future generations.

According to the plant Director, the company has contributed enormously to its physical and social environment in line with the provisions of the Global Sustainability Agenda.

The company also used the opportunity to present awards to some of the volunteers who served as Sustainability Champions over the years.

Speaking, chairman of the planning committee Mr Ohimain Unuigbe said the theme for this year’s programme is: People, Planet and Profit.

He stressed that the company had taken the physical environment, the social milieu and good corporate governance seriously.

Unuigbe added that the significance of Sustainability Plan was to “Enjoy Today Without Destroying The Future.”

Speaking in the same vein, Mrs Temitope Akindele, a Production Engineer, said the company was also promoting Nigeria’s bid to reduce carbon emissions as Pan-African Cement Company.

She described Dangote Cement PLC as an ardent promoter of bio-diversity saying that thousands of trees were being planted by the company periodically. (Ends)
