Bandits become more daring, attacks President’s convoy in home State
The bandits may have taken their nefarious acts a notch higher as they targeted President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday when they attacked his advance team but were repelled by the presidential guards.
The suspected bandits engaged the presidential convoy in a cross fire as the presidential guards proved their mettle by repelling them in Dutsinma, Katsina State.
President Muhammadu Buhari is a native of Daura in Daura Local Government Council, Katsina State in the Northwest, Nigeria.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu in a statement that was made available to the NationalUpdate on Tuesday in Abuja described the incident as a sad development
According to him, the convoy of cars conveying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah was attack by bandits.
“The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions, but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.
The presidential spokesperson however indicated that two persons in the convoy were receiving treatment for minor injuries they suffered adding that the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura.
The President was visiting his hometown, Daura, for Sallah celebration on Saturday, 10th July, 2022.
