Again, supporters operating under the aegis of Goodluck Nigeria Ambassadors (GNA) Friday barricaded the APC headquarters in Abuja demanding for adoption of the ex-President as a consensus torchbearer of the party for the 2023 presidential elections

The National Coordinator of the group, Hon. Temple Esinfa Bereghn told journalists that the former leader who was defeated in a general election in 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari has been tested and one could judge him from what he did before, saying that he has proved himself a formidable leader Nigerians wanted at this time of the day.

The supporters who were beating drums and dacing insisted that Jonathan did very well and was never accused of lopsidedness in appointment of Nigerians into Federal establishments and even in infrastructural development.

Comrade Umar Wada who led supporters from Gombe to the party Secretariat also made a passionate appeal to the APC leadership to consider Goodluck Jonathan.
According to him, Jonathan is a patriotic Nigerian who meant well for the nation, asking the party to recall his good deeds and adopt him as a consensus candidate in the 2023 general election.

He said: “Yes I want Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to come because he has shown himself a formidable leader. The time he was President, he cut across every sector in Nigeria in terms of employment; in terms of Education, he managed ASUU strike and he was able to tackle it not only in Federal Universities, but State Universities too.

“Let use Nasarawa State University for instance, if you go there, all the buildings you see there were constructed by TETfund.

“It was during Goodluck Jonathan’s regime that all these took place. If we cast our mind back, the Almajiri issue was almost becoming a menace, he built Almajiri schoola in order for these people to be educated. We want him back as President.

On whether President Muhammadu Buhari has failed because of the prolonged ASUU strike, he said, “there were other areas that the President has done well and ASUU strike can’t be the only reason to judge the administration.”
In his opinion, Mr Ossai Mathew speaking with journalists said, they were in Abuja to lend their voices to the call on the ruling All Progressives Congress to adopt Jonathan during Monday’s National Congress of the party.

According to him, Nigerians were ready to massively vote the APC with Goodluck Jonathan as the flagbearer because of his competence.
“You know APC is a party that has a ruling President and as Nigerians we are here not for anything, but just to lend our voice that we need Jonathan. Nigerians want Jonathan to come back as President of this country.

“This man is someone that has been tested and trusted. He is someone that has done it before and he will do it again. We believe that he can do it again and that is why we came in our numbers. You can see the mammoth crowd out there calling on APC to adopt Goodluck Jonathan as their consensus candidate.

“The message we want to pass to the President is that if they should allow himto pick his successor from the APC platform, he should pick Goodluck Jonathan. Nigerians are standing behind Mr. President that he should be allowed to pick his successor.

“Nigerians are with Buhari Nigerians are with APC. If APC will bring Jonathan I bet you Nigerians will massively come out for APC again for the second term and this is a clear message and nothing but that.

“Jonathan is a lover of the masses. The same way the masses are yearning for him, that is the same way it is in his heart.

“The statement President Muhammadu Buhari made earlier that for him to chose his successor, it will be based on enormous demands by the people and today the masses are here demanding for Jonathan and I know he will never look down on the masses.”
