Controversy over Kano blast that claimed four lives
Conflicting reports have continued to trail an early morning explosion which occurred near the Winners Kids Academy on Abah Road, in Sabon Gari.
While some believed it was a bomb explosion, the police said it was gas explosion.
The blast killed four persons causing collateral damage to some buildings in the area.
However, the police command in Kano State confirmed the death of four persons after what it referred as gas explosion on Tuesday morning in Kano.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Samaila Dikko, confirmed while speaking in a radio and television broadcast on Tuesday in Kano.
Dikko said that the gas exploded at a welding point near a primary school on Aba Road in Sabon Gari, Kano.
He said that rescue workers were making efforts to discover people trapped at the building where the explosion occurred.
Dikko urged residents of the state to remain calm as the situation was under control.
