APC Southwest Youth Leaders want power shift to younger generation
Youth leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-West geo-political zone have urged the national leadership of the party to allow young and vibrant party members to take up strategic leadership positions in the forthcoming convention.
The Acting South-West Youth Leader, Mr. Kolade Paff Lawal, gave the indication at an advisory press conference in Akure on Monday
He urged the party to use the convention to give life to the leadership aspirations of Nigerian youths which President Muhammadu Buhari blessed in 2018 with his assent to the Not-Too-Young-to-run Bill.
“The party should not compromise on the kind and calibre of persons who should aspire for leadership positions in the party’s forthcoming convention.
“We owe President Buhari the moral duty of sustaining his laudable legacy in this regard.”
Lawal also urged the party to ignore some persons within the party who are lobbying for the date to be postponed to a later date.
He urged the party leadership to shun such pressure.
He indicated that the postponement might spell doom for the ruling party.
